HAND CRAFTED FURNITURE
Now in my fourth decade of cabinetmaking, I produce furniture projects of all sizes and descriptions, designing to commission and making all pieces with my own hands in my workshop in Great Missenden, right in the heart of the Chiltern Hills.
I use very little in the way of automated, digitised or computerised methods. Trained in the traditional way, I design projects with my pencil and make them by hand with traditional tools and techniques.
I take great care to design projects in collaboration with the client, always listening carefully to ideas and wishes and working hard to fulfil every last requirement. I am a one-man team, and so nothing gets lost in translation and the service is very personal.
MY WORK
THE PROCESS
It starts with an informal chat, ideally in the location of the piece-to-be. Describe your requirements to me, show me your ideas, or simply entrust everything to me – I am happy to work anywhere on that scale. Sometimes I am given a detailed brief, sometimes a completely blank canvas, and you are welcome to have as much or as little involvement in the design process and the production of your furniture as you like.
I present my designs as hand-drawn illustrations and plans, although for larger scale projects such as kitchens I will often provide 3D CAD-rendered visuals.
I will design, illustrate, present, make, deliver and install your project, all personally.
